On that faithful Tuesday 24 July, hubs picked Vic from school and told her we could go to the cinema if she can get all her homework completed by a certain time. The movie starts at 9pm and she needs to have her dinner, bath, homework and bag packed by 8pm for the plan to proceed. As for William, he had a good long afternoon nap and there was no homework for him.
With the promise of a cinema, guess what, sure full cooperation from the kids! We were ready even before 8pm and armed with a bag with snacks (smuggle into the cinema ler) and water, we headed to the nearby mall. It's wonderful when we do not have to get caught in any after office or buka puasa traffic jam and the best is new seats in the cinema. I simply abhor old cinema seats that makes me feel like I'm sitting on multiple colonies of dustmites and oily sticky headrest.
Bought our tickets, walked around and we were in by 9pm! We were going to watch Ice Age 4 and this was William's first time at the cinema. The kids have watched all the previous Ice Age series from DVDs and internet downloads, so we were all pretty excited about this latest series.
It was really fun and we should do this again when another suitable movie comes along. Not too bad for a weekday break. : )

You need to smuggle goodies into the cinema? Over here, snacks and drinks at the cinemas are so expensive, so we usually bring our own. We even pop our own popcorn just before we leave the house. Since the cinemas are just 5 mins drive away, it's still warm when we get there.
We don't usually go for a movie on a weekday due to the "mountain high" homework. It's an exception though when it comes to school holidays and that's why I am so looking forward to school holidays! Haha..
Wow, not bad leh... can get so many things done after school in the evening and still make it to the cinema by 9pm!
It is always great to break away from routine once in a while. Give urselves and the kids a break.
I never like the weekend crowd anyway. ONly normally go to malls on weekdays.
we seldom go to the cinema. If we go we will go on Wednesday because they offer cheaper ticket price on Wednesday, and we have to catch the 6pm show so as not to disrupt our kids' sleeping time for school the next day. sometime we prefer to buy DVD so that they can watch it again and again. The last cinema trip we went was to watch the Snow White & the Hunt man and we missed the Brave show
Weekday is good....not so crowded. But I am with you on the dust mites and grease. Hai....too imaginative! :)
Glad you all had a grand time.
Hi, yes, kids love the cinema with its sensurround sounds, special effects, whatever.
I've not been to a cinema ages.....
I guess blame it on Youtube.....
Regret I never heard about this movie before. My fault as stopped reading the papers, hardly look at news too.
You have a great week, best regards.
Lee.
@uncle Lee, since you haven't been to the cinema for ages, then it's high time you bring your wifey out for a cinema date. : )
We missed Ice Age 4 and Madagascar as well. Will have to wait for the DVDs. The cinema at the new mall is so conveniently close by eh? Can do this more often :-)
