A weekend of gluttony and sunshine fun in Penang

Last Friday, we drove up to Penang for a short holiday. Popo joined us for this trip, which we were really grateful as the kids had a good bonding time, especially Vic who always missed her Popo.

The sky poured right after we left KL for most of the journey.

We had complimentary upgrade at The Northam. The suite came with a living, dining, office, huge bathroom and this super-duper king sized bed which sleeps four - Popo, Vic, William and myself. Daddy volunteered to be the livingroom guest
We got complimentary sea view. Right view from our living room

The bathroom which is the size of a standard bedroom, come with jacuzzi

Guess who came along for the holiday? Heh Heh!!!

Saturday morning - dim sum breakfast (is a must!)
After breakfast, we took a walk along the open air market. William seemed to be totally at home, at one point we had to chase him as he was not even scared walking alone amongst the crowd
Victoria checking out her favourite food, the chinese sausage "lap cheong"
Then it was the trishaw ride. We hired two trishaws to bring us to Khoo Kongsi and back.
The 3 of us in the other trishaw.
The two kids refusing to get down
William "lau gai"-ed when we told him to get down and walk around the Khoo Kongsi temple. It was also before this that the trishawmen took advantage and negotiated for a more expensive ride back to the city centre. We negotiated RM8 to bring us to Khoo Kongsi, but he wanted RM12 to bring us back. We paid in the end, of course.

Lunch time at the famous Lorong Selamat. We had cendol first, then asam laksa. No picture of the asam laksa as it was really hot in the kopitiam, and all I wanted to do was to quickly finish up the bowl of yummy laksa and feed the hungry boy, all before he starts getting restless. This is William's first time eating a cold dessert, for the record. Naturally, he loved the cendol so much he refused to give me or hubs our share! We had to convince, trick and distract him, all without success and finally hubby gulp down everything except the beans, much to his protest!
William having a quiet moment in the suite, looking intentively at a magazine, opened to the page of Sunway Lagoon. He was checking out the pictures of boats and people swimming
Even during this short holiday, Vic had to finish her homework, guided by Popo
Our first horse ride... yes, mine as well! I always wanted to sit on a horse, and don't remember ever did. So I consider this my first! The feeling was fantastic. Vic wasn't scared, although she hesitated at first, but was very sporting.

William, on the other hand, cried when the horse came near to us. He didn't want to get on or get near, much to my surprise after being so enthusiastic with his horse and cowboy toy, and horse book which he kept asking me to "sit... sit". But after seeing Vic and I on a horse (and not eaten), he became brave and got on a horse with Daddy. Cost RM20 for a 15 minutes ride after negotiation.

And after the evening horse ride along the Batu Feringhi beach at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, we cleaned up and went for dinner at their very prim and proper Feringhi Bar & Grill restaurant. This is the complimentary bread basket. All very delicious!
Hubby ordered the grilled wahoo dish
Popo ordered the steak
And I went straight for seafood... tiger prawns with lemon butter sauce and side dishes
Caesar salad
A picture with Popo
And one of the four of us...
The kids obliged for a hug for the camera
Sharing a very happy, wild moment with Popo at the back of the car after dinner. They were playing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" game cum song
We went back via ferry. The kids' first time.

William... say bye bye to Penang!!

A rare moment

We capture some pictures of the two kids together last week, sharing a moment on jie jie's bed. Vic was telling stories to William in her very own words, of course.

Aahhh, if the kids don't fight and argue, life is really soooo sweet!

Random pics of William over the past two weeks

What better way to see the mall than to sit on daddy's strong shoulders and hold on to daddy's hair like horse reins? (Daddy says he's getting shorter by doing this)
Cowboy Will!
William likes to arrange his vehicle toys in a line
Blowing bubbles in the garden (whilst I do the laundry)
This is the taukeh's feet while we were shopping at The Gardens last Saturday

Being princess at Jemmi's birthday party (11 June)

Over the past school holidays that just ended, Vic missed two birthday parties but attended another two. The first that she attended was for a good friend's daughter, Jemmi's 6th birthday party.

The theme for the party was for all little girls to come dress as a princess. The "diamond" tiara was a door gift, complete with a magic wand. Vic loved it so much she wore it the same evening during cell group. : )

Vic laugai-ed when she didn't get to join the swimming after the games and party as we had cell group that evening. Poor girl made a scene when daddy tried to get her to leave and go home. I was at home with William.

Lost count...

Last night alone, I read The Clever Rabbit & The Lion at least 4 four times and The Little Red Riding Hood once (both by Usborne publications) and once Chicken Licken (Ladybird) and William downed close to 20oz.

I dozed off before he did. Sometime in the middle of the night, I dug out the three books from under my duvet, his bottle of milk with 2 oz left, a pair of Vic's socks (must be William who took his jie jie's socks) and groggily put them over to Vic's bed (she's away on holiday at her grandparents' house).

Happy to say, William has developed such great passion for books that besides his motorbikes and cars, he'd also bring his books along with him whereever he goes. I even have to read to him in the mornings and in the afternoons! (He's still addicted to The Elves & The Shoemaker)

Caught red handed!

William and I share a common love for banana cakes, all the better if they are freshly baked! For me, it started when my mom used to bake banana cakes when I was at Vic's age, but now that she doesn't do it anymore, I buy them from the hypermarts.

Yesterday I bought some, sliced them up and placed them in an airtight container. This morning I gave half a piece to William for his breakfast. This little fler had his cake whilst watching Barney and I had my dumpling beside him whilst surfing the internet. Then he asked for a second piece, and I obliged him. Barney replayed.

After that second piece, he wanted a third piece, and I had to say no to him this time, for fear he would not be able to eat his lunch later. I didn't notice him while I was on the net, and then suddenly realised it's way too quiet. He's up to something, surely.

Sure enough, I saw him downstairs at our dining table, his bowl on the table and fingers already digging into the banana cake in the container. How on earth did he know where I kept the cake, and how to open the container and then help himself?

When I called and approached him, he had "guilty" written all over his face, but gave me his more charming, cheekiest smile!

And what did he do when he's finished with nibbling on the cake? He took his bowl and ran to the kitchen sink, threw it in (at his height, he can't place it in) the sink and shouted victoriously, "DONE!"

And on another note, here is William sitting all by himself at a restaurant. He left us with his bowl of rice, and just decided to have his meal all by himself. Wonder what was going through his mind? Err... too embarrassed to be seen with us at this age???

And here he is doing a little stunt before the food arrive.
