William's imaginative talk
Eversince he's discovered TV when we introduced Toy Story to him, he's always been excited to watch DVDs, and most times can sit still, oblivious to what's happening around him. We always tease him that when this happens, he's already part of the "cast in the tv." : )
Now, with all these stories and movies, he's got some crazy funny ideas and talks with lotsa imagination too. Don't feel bad if you hear him talk and can't understand a word he says, either due to his poor pronounciation as he doesn't quite bite his words, or simply that he's rambling about well... stuff.
Most of the time I forget what he says, but over lunch today, despite his drippy runny nose, he rambled on about things like (excerpts as I can't remember all)... wolf comes and bite the lamb's tail and then the lion roars and the wolf falls down the gorge... blah blah... then crocodile going round and round hanging on our fan, then dropping down dead, and dogs with sharp teeth going into the sea to bite the sharks, and hyenas chasing dunno-what, and lions and pigs and stuff, and a whole lot of imaginative talk.
Well, that's William. Funny he is, loveable and never wanting mummy to get angry at him (he apologizes till I acknowledge him) and when I get my smell-fix from him, he'll tilt his head towards me so I can sniff his sweat from his head. Aaaahhhhh....

Casual updates
Studies
Victoria just finished her one week of exams, comprising of 4 papers ie English, Malay, Chinese, Numbers, one paper a day. She did quite well in her trial papers during their revision week, except for some very careless mistakes like in Numbers, she rearranged the numbers wrongly in "ascending" and "descending" form.
Her strong subjects are:
1. Chinese (Vic enjoys her chinese tuition classes)
2. Numbers (At home, Vic is already doing subtraction and addition with 3 digit numbers, whereas school work is still two digit + or - one digit ) and
3. Malay
Surprisingly, I feel English is her weakest subject as she still struggles with some spelling and forming words. This little girl's reading has improved much, but the passion of reading is still not there yet.
Allergies
We are still battling Vic's allergy but without any drops or medication. Purely diet control (as what we have been doing the past 3 years) but recently we have introduced treenuts in her diet.
Sadly, yesterday she had a little sniffy nose and this morning she had nose bleeding again after she woke. I gave her some antihistamine to control the sniff and itchiness. Hope it gets better. Looks like our weekend swimming plans have to be postponed again.
Having overcomed her fear of Nemo movie last year, Vic is now scared of watching Beauty & the Beast. Says Gaston and Beast is scary.
Vic tells me she loves me in the most gentle, quiet way. Totally unlike her brother maybe due to age difference and gender, she would touch me, or hold my hand when going to sleep then say she loves me.
Enjoying ipad games together. The Angry-Bird craze is on...
William
... has been less obsessed with Toy Story for the last few months, but lately has been taking out his TS books and CDs and Buzz Lightyear who's been standing untouched on the TV cabinet has flown again.
William likes this compilation of Disney cartoons. Still drinks his milk from the bottle, and a couple of nights back as he was sucking at his milk bottle and me on my ipad, he suddenly expressed, "Mummy I like you!" and then like a shy teenage boy but with a cheeky smile, he chuckled away. I was surprised, as he normally says "I love you mummy" (I'm spoilt with this, as he pronounces his love for me so generously and ever so spontaneously). So I pretended I didn't hear him, and he repeated himself, followed by the same boyish smile.
Ohhh... mummy's heart melted.
At other times, he may suddenly climb on me, hug me, hang himself on me, come sit next to me and wrap his arm around my neck. At one stage he became so dependent on me, asking me to do everything for him... when I say everything, I mean really EVERYTHING.. from feeding him, to keeping his CDs and toys, to taking things for him, opening the car door for him and escorting him out (he won't accept others) etc. Quite fed up, I had to be mean to be kind, giving him the ultimatum to feed himself and do things for himself... if he wants to watch tv. Hahaha... bribery always works!
If you ask William if he's a baby, he tells you "no, I'm not a baby. I'm William."
Story books continue to fascinate this boy, and he will ask for stories before he takes his afternoon nap, and at night, even sometimes in the morning and while I'm driving.
Myself
Some friends have asked what was my decision after I blogged about my dilemma about a job offer. While waiting for the full job description and presentation, a month ago, I received a phone call from a franchise owner that I spoke to previously - which later turn out to be my 2nd open door.
In the same week, my ex client revert to me asking to meet up for the JD, presso and interview. Regretably, I have to politely turn him down, of course this is not something I find easy to do. But he was cool after that, guess not meant to be. To make sure the door didn't close with a slam, I sent him a little personalised token of appreciation, and we moved on from there.
As for the phone call, this will be my future. Our future, as the family will have to make some minor adjustments and sacrifices. Hopefully it'll be a nice little project for me to kill time as well as benefit the kids at the same time. I will share more about this in July.... watch this space!

Victoria's special skincare, toothpaste and supplements
I want to say that Vic has used brands like Cetaphil, Eubos and Polytar before and I have no complaints over that, but just the list below are what she's currently using. Please feel free to recommend and feedback if any.
Since reading on Moogoo products in the newspaper, I have bought their shampoo and milky wash for Vic to use. Moogoo products are chemical-free (that means, no parabens or laureth sulphates) and environmentally friendly. They claim to have the same skin irritation score as water. That means, if you are ok with water and not allergic to it, then you'll be ok with moogoo : )
She just recently finished her first bottle of Moogoo milk wash (500g cost RM69 before discount, officially available at all Caring Pharmacies, but I discovered this also at Babyland SS2 PJ) which lasted her around 5 months (admittedly she's the only one who uses this, and William has only used a few pumps only because I ran out of his J&J shower gel).
After bath, or anytime during the day, normally during the night, Vic puts on Bio Oil, which is to reduce the redness and scars caused by the ezcema and little accidents on her feet. Occassionally, I use Protopic oitment on her inner arm folds if the itch returns and causes redness. I find Protopic very effective. Besides Bio Oil and Protopic, I rotate these with Virgin Coconut Oil too, this one as a gift from Popo.
From left: Olive Oil for the hair, Bio Oil for skin, Bencoolen Virgin Coconut Oil
For the Queen's hair, we use good old traditional olive oil (not the Indian coconut oil from glass bottles that I used when I was Vic's age, the smell is unbearable) since she was a toddler.
For her toothpaste, eversince Dr Wong detected a slight allergy to mint, Vic has been on Chicco's raspberry flavored toothpaste for 3 years now. The last time she changed to Colgate based on his recommendation, her lips became itchy and swollen, either due to the toothpaste or something else. So we changed her back to the Chicco's toothpaste.
As for diet, she's still abstaining from eggs and yeast (includes all types of mushrooms, fungus) and any foods containing or that may have cross-contamination of these (including commercial non-organic pasta and spaghetti).
She's still on daily probiotics, currently now Lactogg best taken with an empty stomach 3 hours after her last meal, and 1 hour before the next.
Almost every other day, she's taking half a table spoon of food supplement from Be-Well manufactured by a British company based in Peterborough. More info here. This was recommended by Dr Wong after we voiced our concern that she MAY be lacked of certain nutritients due to her restricted diet, but of course her size and height definite shows otherwise.
She was on Scott's Emulsion cod liver oil capsules (with Omega 3) but now that that has finished, we are looking out for a good brand of fish oil made with/by natural triglyceride. Anyone knows any, please recommend.
In a way, I'm thankful she's followed her Daddy's genes when it comes to swallowing capsules because she can just chew on them, whereas mummy would have puked even before the capsule made its way down my throat.

Hot air balloon, horse riding and playground!
We had breakfast in the car - Hong Kong chee cheong fun for the kids, and lo mai kai for hubs and myself. That saves us easily 20 minutes!
Upon arriving, we round the place awhile to find the horses, and found parking quite easily. The place was clean (relatively cleaner than TTDI park) and not crowded even on a weekend.
Kakak pushing William on his stroller. So much easier like this, otherwise you may see a crazy maid chasing after a runaway boy in a park
We spotted a hot air balloon in the air and the kids unanimously decided to go for that first. When we arrived there, we were told by the lady in charged that it was an event advertisement, not for public rides, but out of her kind heartedness, she allowed me and Vic up together with another couple.
Hot air balloon! For free!
Down on land, William was very disappointed and almost cried. Daddy promised him an extra horse ride and ice cream.
We didnt fly around, instead just going up on air for a minute, then down again, but it was good enough experience for the 6yo and her mummy ; )
After the ride, William still have his "black face" on...
After the hot air balloon, we walked towards the field where were horses were, and paid for double rides each since it was ridiculously cheap, costing 50cents per child and RM1 per adult.
The horse that pulled our carriage. Her name is Wangsa
It was slightly passed 10am by the time we finished the horse rides. The kids spotted the 3 big playgrounds nearby earlier, and asked for it now. So we brought them there in the mid morning hot sun for a 15 minutes play. Mummy hid in the shade.

My little girl touched a snake!
I let out a squeal of disgust and shock. Then I asked Vic if she touched the snake like this ( indicating a quick jab on the arm) or like this (stroking the arm)...
And she replied, "like this, mummy... (stroking the arm)".
She stroked a snake! But then she told me it was a skinny green snake ie grass snake. Not the white fat python, thank God.
She is definitely more brave than mummy.
Snarled the wolf
"Mummy, I love tau sar peah."
Then I said, "yea it's won-der-ful" (with exaggeration)
And he repeated after me, "It's wonderful"
Mummy: It's delicious.
William: It's delicious.
Mummy: It's super.
William: It's super.
Mummy: It's magnificent.
William: It's magnificent.
Mummy: It's lovely!
William: It's lovely.... snarled the wolf.
With a cheeky smile and tau-sar over his lips.

I dont love you
But when Vic was playing, William came to disturb her, poking and jabbing. She couldn't concentrate and decided to walk off, at which point I told her to come back so I can teach William that he should respect her.
William returned the ipad to Vic, alright, and I returned to my work on my laptop.
Suddenly I heard a small voice said, "I don't love you."
It was William. He has never said this before.
So I asked him, "Who is it that you don't love?"
Then he replied, "Jie jie. I don't love jie jie anymore."
Haiyaaa... over an ipad game.
Kids.

1 party, 1 breakfast, 2 dinners and 1 supper...
Rewind a little, in the morning I did my weekend marketing to stock up the fridge, then had breakfast at home with the kids and hubs. Shortly after that, I left the house for some work and after lunch, both hubs and I successfully put both kids to sleep at by 2pm, way ahead of their normal afternoon nap at 3-4pm.
7th May, Saturday 5pm - 7pm
Fully charged, the kids had an energized time at the indoor playground. Mummy was too chicken shit to slide down the giant slide with William and daddy. The boy looked back when he landed and shouted at me to come down. But mummy couldn't, my feet became jelly at the last moment, and I crawled back down the other way, much to William's well-expressed-disappointment. Oh well, he will forget... hopefully.
Big kid on the slide. Mummy to0 chicken to slide down this one... sorry, boy.
Vic tower over her good friend, Abigail. They were classmates last year and this year, hopefully next year in their new school too.
Rakuzen Restaurant, 730pm
We had a dinner reservation made at Rakuzen, a good Japanese restaurant, which is not a place we will eat too often because of the price. But the cranky salmon and kaki fry (fried oyster)roll was good, only that my stomach was already half full from the heavy tea snacks at the party. Kids shared a set of chicken teriyaki.
Cranky Salmon Roll
Kaki Fry Roll Digging into her dinner
William was very very hungry and kept asking that we ate at Kids Sports instead.
Vic didn't eat much, because she was keeping stomach space for supper, which was our next reservation made at 9pm. Since we had sometime, it was good idea to walk around to help with the digestion. I strayed into Warehouse and my eyes caught sight of a lovely laced white blouse which price tag was even lovelier at RM273 and no discount. I put it back down and quickly hurried Vic and the maid out of the shop before I fall into temptation.
When I found the guys, William was checking out the B-class... no boy, you should look at the C250 CGI next to it, haiyaa!!
Swensens, 9pm
(Ivy/Kev, I remember this was where I first met you guys before your wedding)
Don't think we can handle the Earthquake (8 scoops of ice cream with toppings) so I told hubs to take it easy and go for a modest Topless 5. Vic FINALLY decided on the blackforest after contemplating two other flavours, William picked whatever that had raisin in it (he fell in love with rum n raisin at another place). I chose a Strawberry since it was hubs favourite, and the macadamia nut while hubs picked the yucky green almond whatever, haha. I said it tasted like medicine.
The kids enjoying their Swenson's. Wonder why William's face like that...
Mommies get a free bowl of chips. The kids almost whacked it while it was still hot, and I gave them my ultimatum. No chips till I say so, or they won't get their ice cream. Then when ice cream came, I said, no leaving this table and whoever does that will say bye bye to his or her ice cream. No second chances. Haha... mummy on mother's day is still a working fierce mommy, so don't play play huh.
8th May, Sunday morning, 730am-ish.
Sudden woke from a night of disturbed sleep because it was too hot again, my air con's working overtime and William has been giving us midnight shiatsu massages.
I opened my eyes to see a handsome young 3yo boy looking down at me, then turned over to see a sleeping princess with messy hair.
Hubs rushed into the room shortly, woke the grouchy princess up and after clean up, we all went downstairs, for a "surprise" lovely English breakfast. Almost. I had a German bratswurts, English breakfast sausage, Argentinian grapes, Cameron Highland tomatoes with Australian cheese slice, Spanish ham and some corn kennels with baby carrots... all prepared since 545am by my wonderful hubby!
Ham ommelete
Full English breakfast
Energy Day Spa, Mont Kiara, 1230pm - 3pm
After church, hubs dropped me off at this spa in Mont Kiara, which overlooks the MK Damai swimming pool. He has signed me up for a spa package (knowing very well that I have a weak spot for spas) comprising of steam bath, marine sea salt body scrub and their hot stone & relaxing body massage.
This was my first time to this spa and the experience here was blissful. The senior masseur who served me was filipino, had a gentle and soothing voice, and her pressure was firm and confident. I had a slight neckache from bad sleeping position thanks to William who had woke us up many nights (due to the heat, eventhough the air con was working overtime). Some unwanted midnight shiatsu massage from William was no help as well, but after the 2.5hour at the spa, I feel much better. Even the masseur noted that I had many tension knots on my neck.
Now I can turn my head like a human and not look like a robot ; )
If not for the fact that this place can well cause a dent on the credit card and give us premature weakening of the cardiac, I'd like to hang out here more often, hahaha.
Bangkok House, Petaling Jaya, 630pm
Thai dinner with friends.
Tired but enjoy a wonderful weekend. Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend too!
To the man who made me a mom - hey you set such high standards, I don't know if I will have headache when it comes to Father's Day. I love you.

Mother's Day
Never thought I'd put in my letter despite my bosses' protests and I should end up as what some people teased me as, "the yellow face woman" and what some others think is a life of pleasure of a "siu nai nai."
And the horrific truth... Never loved babies or kids until I had my own (don't worry, I won't eat yours up if I go near them).
To Vic and Will,
"I may not be the perfect mom, but I aspire to be one - if there is such a thing. If my cooking is not tasty enough, if I smack you a little too hard, if I seemed too busy to give you a hug, or if I get impatient with your music or school work, forgive me.
You know I only want the best for you."
This Mother's Day weekend, I would like to remember four very wonderful ladies in my life.
My mom - whom I fondly call "Mi" for being the lady that she is - patient, loving, ever-caring, simple and sacrificial.
My maternal grandma - my Popo, who took care of me when I was a toddler. She was my love, the one who brought tears to my eyes whenever I thought of her. At my lowest moments in life overseas, I thought of you Popo and missed you so much. At my highest points, I wished you were there. One day I will see you again, you're my angel looking down at me always. I wish you had the chance to meet the man of my life, as I promised you last time (and you laughed) and carried your great grandkids.
My paternal grandma - she's a tough woman, I never understood her, but she's one heck of a independent, strong-minded lady.
My mother in law - thank you for your laughters, your ready sense of humor, your love for your grandkids, your sacrifices ever ready to help us, and listening ear.
God bless all the wonderful mommies out there! I'm looking forward to this evening's programme, and tomorrow "surprise" organized by hubby.

Random things
1. "Shoot the fly ant" which then was corrected to, "Shoot the sandfly" and these means go stand at the drainage hole in the bathroom, and pee. : )
It all started with a couple of juvenile sandflies (possibly the ham sap ones) hanging around our bathroom and I got William to aim at them, then fire his pee on them. He enjoys this, sometimes says, "Aaaaiimmm... FIREEE!!!" followed by a stream of warm pee a few seconds later! Then he proclaims victoriously that he killed the sandflies!
2. "Happy mother's day"... my Vic can't really keep secrets. Not just yet. She told me in the beginning of the week that she will be making something special for me in school but she can't tell me. Whenever she see me tensed up or angry, she'd come by with a hug and quickly wished me happy mother's day. I laughed last night when she did this again, and told her mother's day is not yet until this weekend.
3. "Barbie is for girls" this is gramatically wrong, but this was exactly how William the 3yo said it. I remembered he said this some months back but today when I was sorting out old toys (just to find a shark that is still missing) and when Barbie came out, he said, "Mummy I think I don't want to play with Barbie anymore."
"Why?"
"Barbie is for girls, not for boys." William aptly replied.
So I pretended surprise and asked, "Who told you that?" (obviously the sister)
But the boy answered, "Me"... oh well, guess both Vic and Will are not into Barbies. Then as if to emphasise his decision, William gave Barbie a kick.
Ouch. Poor Barbie.
4. "Anene" pronounced the chinese way to describe the darker skinned community in Malaysia. No racism intended here, just that both kids have this weird fascination with the word, and they use it in the most peculiar way. For example, in songs... "One little, two little, three little... (william screams) Anenes" or "Old mcdonald had a farm, ee ai ee ai oo, and on his farm he had some (William adds) Anenes, ee ai ee ai oo..." and other nursery songs.
I can't remember other specific incidents, but at least one a day, this boy will go anene, either mumbling by himself, making a song out of this one word, or giving anene answers. Haiyooo!! Vic does this rarely, but she does join in the fun too, much to the brother's amusement!
Seriously, he doesn't think anene refers to people, but he thinks anene refers to his nipple, coz he did say this when he was topless. Shy shy!

A weekend in Penang
Traffic was heavy, and rain on some part of the journey. We arrived the island around 5pm, good enough time for us to check in, unpack, freshen up and dress up for our charity dinner at the Shangrila Rasa Sayang in Batu Ferringhi.
Most hotels were fully booked for the long weekend. But we managed to book the 2-bedroom apartment suite at Hotel Royal Penang, formerly known as the Merlin, the Sheraton and the Dorsett.
Vic and Will are overjoyed that they get to spend time with Popo Gong Gong, what more, at a place OUTSIDE the town we stay, and in a hotel! Unfortunately, Vic came down with fever that night, but thank God recovered the next afternoon about another round of medicine.
Here are some pictures of the charity dinner which hubs and I attended (while the grandparents babysitted the kids) - we were guests of the sponsors. My camera battery gave up on me soon after the dinner, so I didn't have any more pictures of this holiday.
Presentation of some of Andrew Lloyd Webber's popular songs by the Penang Philharmonic Orchestra.
There's a list of many interesting hotel stays out for auction. We put in one bid just for fun... who knows... heh hehee
Sigh.. the belly spoilt this picture. Need to exercise.
Japanese Children's Choir
The ending song, "Heal The World" by Michael Jackson.
There were also some kimono shows by the Pink Hibiscus Club, with details given on the different types of kimonos and their intrinsic details by their president, Ms Emi Yamazaki.
This is my first time attending a charity dinner this elaborate. Each table is priced from RM4000 (silver sponsors), RM6000 (gold sponsors) and RM8000 (platinum sponsors) but being served the same food.
When we got back to the hotel, Vic who was having a fever, was already in bed, maid tucked into her made-shift bed but still awake, and William just asleep with his new Buzz toy gun beside him. I whispered to him that mummy daddy are home, and he quickly opened his eyes.
The next day we had dim sum breakfast, then walked about the morning market (weather was too hot for my liking), followed by the famous Lorong Selamat cendol and asam laksa.

After check out, we had a light chaw kuey teow lunch and oyster omelette. How can come to Penang and not have these, right? The trip will not be complete!
Vic loved this trip, she loved the time spent with her grandparents most especially, thanking me during a quiet moment for giving her this holiday.
You're most welcome, princess. ; )

You sleep, I take care of you
Once back in the car, he asked for milk at 1pm-ish, which is too early for his milk fix. Hearing that, I know he wants to sleep, and I told him to hang on till we get home. However, along the highway nearing 2pm, he slept.
He slept till nearing 6pm, in between he took less than 4oz of milk, instead of his usual 8oz. He hardly touch his favourite pasta for dinner. Before I left with Vic for her music class, I asked hubs to give William medicine if need to. Shortly after I left, William asked for medicine himself.
At 8pm, hubs told me he's trying to put the boy to sleep eventhough William said he wanted to wait for mummy.
I came home, and he immediately leeched to me, and when I delayed a little, he got irritated and said, "Mummy I want to sleep!" Mind you, he just woke from a 4hours nap less than 3 hours ago, and he normally sleeps around midnight, so when he says he wants to sleep at 820pm, he must be damn tired and ill!
So I explained to him that mummy will have to change him first, and then sponge him. He said OK. Surprised, coz the last time I remembered he was less cooperative especially when it came to sponging him.
He allowed me to sponge his head with a wet towel, then he told me to sponge his back as well. I told him he will need to turn around, and he quickly obeyed. I sponged his back, then his neck and his forehead, and all these while the boy's eyes were closed, sometimes opened to check on me, and he hardly budge.
Mummy assured him, "William you sleep, Mummy will take care of you".
835pm, William slept. I continued to sponge him a little more. Nearing 11pm, he woke again without crying, and just looked around. I took the opportunity to give him another dose of medicine as it was due.
Thank God, middle of the night was uneventful.
He woke at 730am this morning after close to 11hours of sleep. I gave hime one more dose of nurofen to kill off the fever.
The boy had no appetite for breakfast, but ate a good portion of fish poridge for lunch. After his afternoon nap today, he felt feverish again. Sigh... one more dose of nurofen. Finished the bottle, now I have to check stock for paracetamol for tonight.
This round when William is ill, he is so much more cooperative and hardly laugai-ed, and easy to handle. I hope this shows his maturity as he grows. And even when he's sick, he never stops to assure me that he loves me. How sweet! : )
Simple 3 for a superb boy!
But the cakes were discussed and decided much earlier, with Vic changing from her initial choice of Princess theme to Ben 10 (again!) but William was consistent with his obsession with Toy Story until almost 2 weeks to his birthday, and he saw some pretty bird cupcakes from Ivy and said he wanted to change.
But it's Toy Story as it is. Kids ah kids... always wishy washy, fickle minded and if they have their choice, everything they want, haha! William's cake was collected in the afternoon, with me getting lost on the way to Ivy's place to pick up, even with full assistance from my GPS (you see, it's not my fault, the GPS brought me to Holland!) but thank God Ivy was quick to direct me back to civilisation.
The moment I showed the kids the cake at home, they both wowed, aaahed and Vic soon made a comment that William's cake was nicer than hers. I assured her that both has its uniqueness and it was their choices. Typical, huh?
Anyway, we had a simple sing song, cut cake ceremony at night with some cell group friends and their children.
Buzz, Woody and the mini Jessie are real... toys!
Cutting cake, with Yu Rim jie jie who shares the same birth date as William.
After blowing the candles, we quickly "kidnapped" all the characters and decos into a special container, before the kids accidentally dismember 'em. I plan to keep them forever if they don't rot, just as I'm keeping Vic's fondants from her 1st year birthday ; )
Two days before on Wednesday 27th April, we had our little family birthday luncheon for William at his favourite joint - Souled Out. He wanted to wear their big sunglasses for the birthday person which he wore last year, but they didn't have that now. William was quick to accept anything else they had. William's favourite - the carbonara pasta
