Being vain... with all my pretty little hairclips

About a year ago, my sister in law from the States (Auntie Winnie - to Victoria) handmade some pretty little hairclips and ribbons for Victoria. They were placed beautifully in a box complete with a netting base and so professionally made. There are 7 all together, and I presume one for each day of the week.

Victoria loves to take them out once in a while to wear them... all at once, or a few at a time, depending on her mood. She's not really into these clips and fanciful things on her hair, but she does have her girl-ly days.

Last week, she found the box and decided to wear them all. So I gladly helped her pin them on her hair just as she direct me and then asked her to oblige for some pictures to show Auntie Winnie. : )

And this is another picture of her just being cheeky. At the background are hers and William's clothings, half of them new and waiting to be worn when the time and size is right. She'd sometimes pick them and wear old smaller clothes, or insist to open the new ones.

Thank you, Auntie Winnie for the lovely clips and ribbons! Mummy won't let me wear them to school coz she's afraid that I might lose them. (Once when I misplaced the green one, Mummy almost went hysterical and asked the maid to drop her work to look for it... "sampai jumpa". We later found it in Daddy's car, phew!)

Pictures... where?

A friend of mine asked why there are so few pictures of Victoria, but so many of a smiling William. Well, that's because he loves to smile and laugh. Toddlers, on the other hand, are very aware of their surroundings and learn how to be shy. Victoria is very camera shy at this age, so it's hard to get good pictures of her to put up. We do take many of her spontaneously, and they are kept in our private folder. To view, do visit.

So, it's nothing to do with "never start her young" coz she has thousands of pictures take since she was born, and it's not that mummy love one more than the other. If you notice, there are more write-ups on Victoria than William, and that is because she has more activities, thoughts and play.

So, let's put the record straight. This blog is one where I pen my taughts, and record memories so that I can read them again when the kids are older. Enjoy your read and the pictures as they are put up. And feel free to comment.

Playdough I lovveeeeeee

This is our little project yesterday afternoon since our plan to go out did not materialise due to the rain. Victoria has been very excited over her play dough eversince I bought it for her last week. This is her idea and our creation together. From this...

Can you guess the significance of each of the duck (yes, it's a duck, btw!)?

Dinner time

Dinner time is sometimes stressful. Because Victoria eats very slow, she takes an hour to finish her meal, and on rare good days, within 45 minutes. She chews very slowly and keeps the food in the mouth. Even with soup or gravy, it does not help. Repeated reminders to swallow her food have little effect. It's such a stressful event, just to even keep her to her seat because, like many other typical chinese kids, she likes to run around after 2 minutes into her dinner. Yes, she is playful but I think this is due to old bad habits.

I'm not an expert but common sense tells me that children must be taught, from very young, that when eating, they must be put in a baby chair (even when they resist) to sit still until the meal is finished. Children must also understand that the dining area is for meal times, and living area for relaxation and play. Thus, they should only eat at the dining table, not in the living room, where they can roam around, or get distracted.

I hope when it's William's turn, my theory proves me right. There's no harm in a little pat on the hands to "discipline" the child, or a stern "No" to tell the baby that it's wrong.

No I'm not well yet but I can drink coconut water

Last Thursday, I brought Victoria for her follow up check up with the paediatrician who saw her when she was admitted. She was better, but still had some virus in her and is to continue her probiotics for the next two weeks. Her condition, I finally had the opportunity to jot down, is called acute gastroenteritis

During the appointment, she reminded me to asked the doctor if she can drink coconut water.

Doctor said yes, go ahead... so after that we went coconut-water hunting at our favourite coconut-water joint.

Mood vise, Victoria is still very playful and naughty, and maybe a little added dose of stubbornness.

The patriach and the matriach

On the day that Victoria was discharged from the hospital, she had two surprise visits, one from the matriach from Hubby's side aka her Tai po (great-grandmother) and slightly later, the patriach from my side aka Tai Gong (great-grandftather).

William was just happy to have jie jie back home. Victoria wasn't in the mood for photos having just arrived home, and is very photoshy at this age. This is Tai Po (who resides in Singapore):

Victoria was too engrossed with all the visitors, and didn't want to sit in for this photoshoot. This Tai Gong (who resides in Ipoh):

Discharged: Welcome home, Victoria!

Victoria was discharged yesterday evening from the hospital after her bowel movement stabilized. Her stool remain soft-ish but not watery, and she is to continue her probiotics medication over the next two days.

On the second day of admission, Victoria has ventured out of her hospital room and took pictures along the corridor. Here is a picture of in her own hospital room jovial as usual.

This is the entrance of her room, which is very nicely decorated:

And this is her room...

A closed up picture of her hand, where they inserted the drips on the first day.

Baby brother visited her everyday, and sometimes slept in the hospital baby cot too.
At home he is quiet and not his chatty self, and I think he misses his jie jie.

After all the discharge procedures, we finally left the hospital at 630pm, and arrived home at 730pm. How nice it is to have Victoria back home. (That night itself, Victoria was back to her naughty self)
