Day 12th: Shopping at Meadowhall the whole day

March 8th, Monday.

This morning we had shreded chicken-mushroom porridge for us which Marilyn cooked for us the night before. The kids had ham with the old cinamon and raisin soda bread.

We initially planned to visit Meadowhall and then the city centre (since today was a Monday and the shops will open till late). Meadowhall is a huge shopping centre away from the Sheffield town centre. I thought of riding the tram just for experience for the kids and of course down memory lane for me. But hubby thought taking the car will be less hassle so we took the car.

And thank God we took the car, because within half hour of arriving Meadowhall, we stepped into PRIMARK, which is a budget departmental store. I didn't knew at first (that's how outdated I am) and I don't recall Sheffield having a PRIMARK back then. Everything was so reasonably priced, even after convertion to Ringgit, I thought it was all on sale. But I later realised that I was wrong, and only a few items with the red mark is on sale. Anyhow, the "normal" priced item was already way way below the normal prices in other retail stores.

We bought pyjamas, undergarments, bedlinens, throws (for my next project), socks, jackets, ties, clothings... can you believe that I got Vic's thermal blouse for only 1pound and for 2 pairs? How could we even get that kind of pricing in Malaysia?!

We bought 2 big bags before lunch then proceeded to the centre court for lunch. There weren't many eatery shops at the centre court and I used to remember the place was buzzling. The kids at BBQ pork ribs and pork hammer with chips. Everything goes with chips here. Then we ordered another indian dish - chicken korma with yellow rice and let the kids have the rice with their pork. They ate very well!

After lunch, we continued with shopping at PRIMARK and ended up with another 2 big bags. During this time, William fell asleep so we "had" to hang around longer instead of going to the car, else he will wake. When we were done with PRIMARK, we walked around the other shops, which proved to be nothing much, because we have most of these in Malaysia anyway.

Tired, but very satisfied with our load, we headed home at around 4pm when the little prince woke.

Marilyn was dishing out something special for us again tonight. We had stirfried soya chicken, lam yue pork, rice boiled with chicken gravy and stirfried cabbage. All very tasty!

At night, hubby was faced with the biggest challenge of packing all the new goodies into our luggages. If we can't fit everything in, we will have to consider getting a new luggage or courierring some of the items back, either of which can be done tomorrow before we leave on Wednesday.

(We managed to put everything in the luggage - very difficult but the luggage should be able to hold everything in)

Primark is awesome! The one along Oxford St in London is a huge one! You'll be able to see it the moment you exit Marble Arch station : )
