Last Tuesday, local news headlines in Korea were shouting "War" and "Bombed" and I believe many international news announced the same in their cover page, which sent many of our families back in Malaysia on "red alert" and super worried. We left in such a hurry that it slipped our mind to pass a copy of our itinerary to our parents (the grandparents) back home.
But then again, if they had saw our itinerary would our families had gotten more worried? Because it stated that on Day 5 (morning) we were to leave for DMZ - the demilitary zone!
Thank God, as were eating our dinner the night before, we saw on TV the unfortunate happenings and decided to call off our visit to DMZ. So the next morning, what did we do?
We visited a village use for filming Korean "war" movies, well, that's what I've been told. We rented a cycle-carriage to move around inside the village.
Soraksan National Park
We sat on a cable car to go up to Mount Sorak. Frankly I was disappointed at the "snow" in the skiing resort, it's more like ice and the weather was good, but not cold enough. Sorry, I was envisioning before this trip, my bum landing on soft fluffy snow, but that didn't happen, so when this trip up to the mountains, I told the kids, maybe we can see real snow there. Not touch, but at least see it on the peak of the mountains. Mind you, it's not just me who's expecting snow in Korea, but the kids as well.
So, up we went on the cable. Very stable, not scary at all and unlike our Genting Highland cables. From the station on top, we hiked up the remaining part of the mountain - some very ambitious friends attempted to climb all the way to the top, which they almost did, but turned back very close at the top. Bravo, anyway!
And guess who else wanted to climb the mountains? Vic! So Daddy took her up, and she did pretty well for a 5yo. I was with some other women friends and the kids at a safe-rather-flat part where we stationed ourselves and we kept William busy with biscuits.
When the two of them came back down, William insisted to climb up. Would you believe it? OK, we saw old Korean women climbing with babies strapped to their chest, and William was very, VERY persistant! So Daddy brought him a little further, and a little further, and more... as the little boy insisted and wanted to climb all the way to the top!
My kids - I really didn't know they were this brave! Sure it was very safe, and the weather was good and not windy. But climbing mountains at this age? Whoever thought they'd be into this! Even after we have left the mountains, William kept saying he wanted to climb to the top. Wasn't easy to get him to come down too.
In the evening, we went to E-Mart shopping mall to unload some of our Korean Wons and have early dinner (early - compared to all our other dinners in Korea which was always after 8pm) before we returned to the hotel.

Hey, pretty polka dot hat u were wearing tat day! freezing cold up there huh?
Hahaha... cold but bearable lar... brought the hat already, might as well wear it. It got really REALLY cold only on the way down the mountain and the last 3 days of our hols.
Ooossshh...looks COLD !!! But looks like so fun your trip and so adventurous.
